"Josefine Axelssons konst rör vid mitt hjärta. Anledningen till det är helt enkelt att uttrycken kommer direkt från hennes eget hjärta. Som betraktare och åskådare tvingas jag till konfrontation och uppgörelse, hennes mycket privata bilder och symboler blir mina, hennes rop och böner blir mina, hennes blod blir mitt och hennes smärta blir min egen. I en suggestiv konstnärlig process uppenbarar och förklarar hon förträngda och tabuerade föreställningar och fantasier som finns hos oss alla; hon gör det med stillsam humor men utan att moralisera. Privata intima tankegångar förvandlas till universella konstuttryck utan att spåren mellan de två tillstånden utplånas; nutid, vardagsrum med konstrum."

ENGLISH

Josefine Axelsson was born 1967 in Sweden.

She works mostly in bronze with the figure -Valter. Every sculpture is done by hand and is an original. The size of Valter is between 7-50 cm high. Some of them can bee seen as models, meant to be at least 170 cm high.

Together with Jonas Högström she has a foundry where she does the whole process by herself; found, weld, mould etc.

Written during the exhibition with Valter and conceptual art at Konstlots, Höganäs 1999;

"Josefine Axelssons art touches my heart. The reason for that is simply that her expressions come from her own heart. As an observer, a spectator, I am forced to confrontation and agreement. Her very private pictures and symbols turn in to be mine, her cry and request become mine, her blood become my blood and her pain become mine. In a suggestive artistic process she reveals and explains contraction suppressed and taboos of ideas and fantasies that are in everyone of us; Josefine Axelsson does it with silent humour without moralising. Private, intimate thoughts turn in to universal artexpressions whithout that the traks wipes out between the two states of mind ; present time, common place whith a place of art.
