Since 1992 Monica Sand has worked to give artistic interpretations of research in physics. To be able to do that she has co-operated with scientists at CERN, Geneva and the universities in Gothenburg, Stockholm and Linköping in Sweden. In her art she is using materials especially made for experiments in elementary particle physics. She is also inspired by results from research and studies the scientific working process compared to the artistic process. This has resulted in several exhibitions (installations) and sculptures which shows her interpretation of physics.

Sedan 1992 har Monica Sand, arbetat med att ge en konstnärlig tolkning av fysik. För att kunna göra det har hon samarbetat med forskare på CERN, Geneve, Chalmers, Göteborg, Stockholms universitet, Linköpings universitet. I sin konst har hon använt material som är speciellt gjorda för experiment i partikelfysik och även försökt sätta sig in i processer och arbetsmetoder inom den moderna fysiken. Hon har även i sina senaste arbeten använt vetenskapliga detektorer på samma sätt som i fysikexperiment.
