Alexandros Mimoglou
Architect, Artist, Designer
Jay Van Everen (1875–1947) was an American artist known for his contributions to abstract and modernist painting. Born in Mount Vernon, New York, he pursued art education at various New York art schools between 1897 and 1917, including the School of Architecture.
Throughout his career, Van Everen worked as an illustrator, designer, and muralist, showcasing versatility across different mediums. He was associated with the Synchromist painting movement, recognized for vibrant and abstract compositions that emphasized color and form.
Van Everen exhibited his works in several notable art exhibitions, including the Society of Independent Artists from 1921 to 1928 and the Salons of America in 1922.
His artworks are part of prestigious collections, such as the Whitney Museum of American Art, which houses pieces like "Gods of Long Ago" (c. 1925–1930) and the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, D.C. USA where we can find today's artwork called "Untitled".
