BIOGRAPHY

Sotos Constantinou Gonios was born in Famagusta, Cyprus. From his childhood, he is dedicated to art, where painting took a major role in his life. In 1974, the Turkish invasion in Cyprus ended his future ambitions of further art studies. He enrolls at the Law School of the Aristotelio University of Thessaloniki. He returns to Cyprus and refuses to wear the legal gown. He creates Liogerma (Sunset), his own cultural space where were performed concerts, theatrical shows, and exhibitions. He becomes one of the pioneers in private radio broadcasting on the island and composes music for theaters. Then for three years, he works with ceramics and pottery at the workshop of B. Demetriou and continues his free studies in painting and design. He moves back to Greece and cooperates with established artists. He has devoted himself exclusively to painting in a professional manner and from 1997 onwards, he travels and performs exhibitions around Europe. His works have been exhibited in Greece, France, Cyprus, England, and Portugal and have appeared in the covers of books and CD’s, where has been used as an artistic interventions in Athens. Paintings of the artist takes place in Costa Shipping cruise lines, Lauren L mega yachts (ex: Constellation)and others. He has cooperated with Pepsi and the Athenian Brewery (Artistic Intervention to special edition of Ioli water and Mc Farland beer).From year 2011, he returns back to his home country- Cyprus, where he intensively continues to draw. ÁíáöÝñïíôáé óå åéêüíåò – óýìâïëá ôçò äéêÞò ôïõ ðñáãìáôéêüôçôáò êáé ðáßæïõí ìå ôéò óõìâáôéêÝò Ýííïéåò ôïõ ÷ñüíïõ êáé ôïõ ÷þñïõ. Óôç íÝá ôïõ äïõëåéÜ Ôá ÄÝíôñá, èåìáôéêÞ åíüôçôá ðïõ ôïí åß÷å áðáó÷ïëÞóåé êáé óôï ðáñåëèüí, åðáíÝñ÷ïíôáé êáé áðïôåëïýí ðëÝïí ôï êåíôñéêü ðåäßï ðåéñáìáôéóìïý ôïõ êáëëéôÝ÷íç. Ôá ÄÝíôñá ôïõ Óþôïõ Êùíóôáíôßíïõ Ãïíéïý ìïéÜæïõí ðëÝïí æùãñáöéóìÝíá óå ôïß÷ïõò, áöïý åðåîåñãÜæåôáé ôïí êáìâÜ ôïõ êáëýðôïíôÜò ôïí ìå áëëåðÜëëçëåò óôñþóåéò modeling paste êáé åí óõíå÷åßá æùãñáößæåé ìå ôç ÷ñÞóç óðÜôïõëáò, äéáäéêáóßá ðïõ åðéôñÝðåé ôçí ðáñáãùãÞ ëåðôþí ÷ñùìáôéêþí äéáâáèìßóåùí, Þ áíôßèåôá æùãñáößæïíôáé êáôåõèåßáí ðÜíù óå ýöáóìá ìå ôñüðï þóôå íá äéáêñßíåôáé ôï áíÜãëõöï ôçò ýöáíóÞò ôïõò, ôå÷íéêÞ ðïõ óýìöùíá ìå ôïí êáëëéôÝ÷íç ðáñáðÝìðåé óôéò áíáìíÞóåéò ôùí ëåõêáñßôéêùí êõðñéáêþí êåíôçìÜôùí. ÓõíèåôéêÝò áíáöïñÝò óôç öýóç êáé ðáñáðïìðÝò óôéò «ñßæåò» êáé ôéò êáôáâïëÝò ôïõ êáëëéôÝ÷íç ìÝóá áðü áðåéêïíßóåéò ôùí äÝíôñùí ôïõ ôüðïõ ôïõ, ôéò åëéÝò êáé ôéò ðïñôïêáëéÝò, áëëÜ êáé áíáöïñÝò óôçí éäéüôçôá ôùí äÝíôñùí íá «ñéæþíïõí», åêöñÜæïíôáò êÜôé ìüíéìï êáé óôáèåñü, Ôá ÄÝíôñá áíÜãïíôáé óå åìâëçìáôéêÝò öéãïýñåò ìéáò ðïëõóÞìáíôçò èåþñçóçò ôïõ êüóìïõ êáé ôçò ðñáãìáôéêüôçôáò. ÄÝíôñá ðïõ ãßíïíôáé áíÜãëõöá êáé « óðÜíå» ôá üñéá ôïõ ðßíáêá ìå ôçí ðñïóèÞêç ðñáãìáôéêþí öýëëùí, äÝíôñá ðïõ « èåïðïéïýíôáé» ìå ôç ÷ñÞóç ÷ñõóïý öüíôïõ èõìßæïíôáò áãéïãñáößåò, äÝíôñá ðïõ öÝñïõí ôÜìáôá – Üóðñåò êïñäÝëåò äåìÝíåò óôá êëáäéÜ ôïõò üðùò óõíçèßæåôáé óôçí Êýðñï, äÝíôñá ìÜñôõñåò ôçò éóôïñßáò êáé ôçò «ìéêñÞò» áôïìéêÞò êáèçìåñéíüôçôáò.
